Using Kubernetes for Database scalability and High Availability

Douglas Hood, Oracle

Abstract

Using Kubernetes as a cluster manager for containers is great for simple stateless applications and micro-services, but is it useful for complex, stateful, clustered SQL RDBMS? This talk gives an introduction to Kubernetes and shows how it can be tamed to acts as a free, scalable cluster manager for clustered SQL databases in your data center or your favourite cloud. Knowledge of RAC and Oracle Clusterware is helpful but not required.
