IOPS & NVMe – Topics for the Cloud & On-premise

Chris Slattery, Version 1

Abstract

Many companies are implementing Cloud systems, and improving their on-premise systems.   The new Storage type, NVMe brings about a big revolution in how storage is considered.

This talk discusses how Oracle database deals with NVMe , changes to optimization , and speed improvements resulting.

We discuss how this talk is appropriate for a Cloud conversation, and why its context is important for both IAAS and PAAS computing,  all current cloud vendors offer NVMe storage.

We discuss what the ins and outs of this are for modern Linux deployments, and the difference in storage and changes to design that may be required to deliver the highest performance and HA SLAs for customers.

A good presentation for any modern technical architect looking to deploy high performance systems in the most modern of technologes both on-premise and Cloud.
