Abstract

The Co-op is the UK’s leading convenience retailer, with over 2800+ stores, 12 distribution centers and annual turnover of £9.5bn. The session describes the platform built by the Co-op to underpin its enterprise database and middleware systems which follows Oracle’s Platinum Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) design principles across its 2 data centers. The session will also describe an approach of how to design and deploy solutions underpinned by the MAA family of products and technologies in the various Cloud vendors as more critical workloads move to public clouds: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform and Oracle Cloud. It will also explain how these vendors differ in terms of achieving the desired and optimal High Availability, Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements.

Nikitas is a Platform Specialist-Architect with 17+ years of experience in architecture, design and implementation of large enterprise-scale, business-critical solutions, underpinned by Oracle Database and Middleware technologies in a 24x7x365 real-time, multi-business, multi-platform, multi-site, multi-cloud technology and application landscape.
